Mgahinga National Park
Overview
Mgahinga National Park is a compact yet breathtaking conservation area located in Uganda’s southwestern corner, where the country borders Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Though it’s the smallest national park in Uganda, Mgahinga is rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage. It forms part of the larger Virunga Mountain range and is home to one habituated group of mountain gorillas and the rare golden monkeys. The park is also a fantastic destination for volcano hiking, including the popular Mount Sabinyo trek. Mgahinga’s tagline, “where gold meets silver,” perfectly reflects the unique opportunity to see both golden monkeys and silverback gorillas in one place.
