Yakub Birungi
From around the age of 10, while living in exile, I was fascinated by the beauty of Kenya. Visits to Uhuru Park and the vibrant craft markets always filled me with excitement. When we later returned to Uganda, I was able to settle back home and continue with my studies.
At the time, I never imagined I would one day find myself in tourism. My professional path began in accountancy, where I trained and worked across different industries. Yet, as I traveled more widely across Uganda, I was struck not only by its natural beauty but also by the challenges faced by local communities and the environment.
It was during these journeys that I realized travel could be much more than just discovery, it could become a powerful tool for empowerment, conservation, and connection.
Rafiki Eco Safaris was born out of this vision. I wanted to create a company that reflects my passion for exploration while giving back to the people and places that make each journey special. Every safari we design is meant to tell a story—of wildlife thriving in its natural habitat, of cultures being celebrated, and of communities benefiting directly from tourism.
For me, it’s deeply personal. Travel has shaped who I am, and through Rafiki Eco Safaris, I hope to share that same sense of wonder with others while ensuring that the impact of tourism is lasting and positive. I also share my travel stories and reflections as a way of inspiring others to explore responsibly and meaningfully.

Brian Tuhaise is a licensed Professional Tourist Guide, Tour Leader, and Ornithologist with years of experience leading birding, wildlife, and cultural safaris across East Africa. A passionate birder and storyteller, he creates engaging and memorable travel experiences while sharing his love for nature, culture, and photography.

Trip Planner Assistant/Tour Guide
Baluku Rabison is a passionate tour guide from Kasese, Uganda, specializing in wildlife safaris and gorilla trekking. Inspired by his childhood surrounded by nature, he turns every journey into a memorable adventure filled with wildlife, culture, and storytelling.

Growing up in the scenic Butiaba Escarpment by Lake Albert, Shukran Basiima developed a deep love for nature, culture, and adventure. A certified tourist guide with a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, he now shares Uganda’s landscapes, wildlife, and cultural treasures with travelers, turning every trip into a memorable exploration.
