Kidepo Valley National Park
Overview
Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s most remote and rugged national park, located in the semi-arid Karamoja region near the borders of South Sudan and Kenya. This hidden gem offers breathtaking savannah views, jagged mountains, and exceptional wildlife viewing without the crowds. Often compared to the great parks of Kenya or Tanzania, Kidepo is home to over 75 mammal species, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and giraffes. Its isolation makes it a perfect destination for travelers seeking a raw, authentic safari experience. The Karamojong and Ik communities nearby also provide unique cultural encounters that are both humbling and unforgettable.
